  1. Neodesk Random Picture Selector V1.0 Documentation...

  3. Place NRPS.PRG in your auto folder.  It's last in mine after pinhead,
  4. mouse doubler, startgem etc., but I don't think it matters.  The paths 
  5. default to C:\NEODESK for the neodesk location and E:\CLIPART for the 
  6. location of your *.PI2 and *.PI3 pictures.  If you would like to change
  7. these, either sector edit the program or create a file called NRPS.INF
  8. in your root directory with the first line being the location of the
  9. NEOMASTR.PRG and the second line being the location of your PI? files.
  10. Do not include the final '\' in these path listings.  You may need to
  11. add a final carriage return... I have no need for this option, so it
  12. is untested.

  14. NRPS copies a random picture into the NEODESK folder on boot using the
  15. physbase of the screen as a buffer.  I don't know why this had to be
  16. so large (ca. 17K), but it is compiled in HiSoft Basic Pro, the prog
  17. size was 2K and lib size was 15K...?  I may rewrite in C to shrink it, 
  18. but my C: partition has room anyway.  NRPS checks the resolution and 
  19. upon hi, copies a PI3 extension picture otherwise a PI2 extension 
  20. picture.  The picture will only be changed by either rebooting or exiting
  21. NEODESK and reentering after running NRPS.

  23. The randomizer should be fairly random as it shuffles the filenames first,
  24. then gets the seconds value from the system clock, adds it to the total
  25. files (which may be no greater than 60) and multiplies by rnd until less
  26. than total.  I had trouble with other attempts, but this seems to do the
  27. trick.

  29. I may update this as a D.A. which can shuffle pics while in NEODESK if
  30. there is any interest.  I don't think there are any bugs, but I just
  31. wrote it last night...
